Crooked Creek Golf Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located 20 minutes south of Raleigh in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina.
Crooked Creek Golf Club opened for play in 1994. The course was designed by Chuck R. Smith.
Crooked Creek is a very scenic and picturesque course. The terrain is hilly, especially on the back nine which plays along the 130-foot bluffs of Middle Creek, and the tees and greens are elevated. The fairways are fairly tight, and the greens are undulating and medium-sized. Water comes into play on seven holes. Some good elevation change throughout the course, interesting holes, skill and target golf required to play well here. There are 5 sets of tees, including one for juniors
Crooked Creek Golf Club plays to a par-71 and 6,271 yards from the longest. The course rating is 70.6 and the slope rating is 137.
The course closed July 5, 2015
The 143-acre property was purchased for a reported $4 million by the county to be used as a park.

They have a wonderful set up for kids to play free with a paying adult. We took our two grandsons, ages 12 and 6, and had a great time. There are specially marked tees for junior golfers also.

Crooked Creek appears to be about a month behind other courses in aerating and top dressing their greens. Greens we more sand than grass, slow and bumpy. Fairways were thin and several tee boxes had NO grass on them at all. This course never used to look like this. Yet they still managed to charge $49 to play in the afternoon. I'm glad I did not choose to play in the morning when the price is $69.

This course offers a nice variety, as the front 9 differs greatly from the back 9. The front is fairly easy with little elevation changes, whereas the back can be very challenging and had drastic elevation changes. Overall, a nice course and definitely worth playing if in the area.
